Food for Pegasus

The true story behind the food for Pegasus...

Granny has many bird feeders. And of course, there are the standard ones for the resident farm birds. Well, if that wasn't enough to keep Granny busy, she also has various bird feeders around the farm for the wild birds.

Granny was getting rather tired and bothered about how fast the wild birds seemed to be chowing down on the birdfood, and mumbling something now and then about how those pesky furry marauders must have figured out how to reach the feeders (you know, squirrels, coons or ??). Well, she happened to catch the real culprits... and even on film! Yep, you guessed it! Not a feather was involved... Except maybe in the culprit's dreams.

Now why would well fed horses want to eat birdfood? I guess it's the same cosmic reason that the dogs want the cat food the cats like the koi food, the chickens want the fresh berries and apples Granny guards for her jams, jellies, pies and such. And the children? Well, they want the dog food kibbles, of course!

Now did these horses learn to fly??? Well, only when Granny took after them with a "Hey you! Out of the birdfood you rascals!!" Then they would pretend they never even saw the feeders, until Granny was out of sight. Then back to the bird feeders they would go...

It was quite a long summer of filling feeders until Granny started hiding the feeders when the horses were in the same area with them. The little birds would be forced to just sadly wait their turn...

Granny is waiting for those horses to start flying! Ever since she was a little girl she thought it would be great to ride a flying horse... perhaps in her dreams tonight :-)
