Just for kids (all ages) home made PLAY DOUGH

I couldn't begin to tell you how many batches of this stuff I have made.

It is a good tried and true recipe. I would estimate about 300-400 kids have enjoyed

playing with this just from the batches I made. I have know idea how many kids have enjoyed this from batches made by those whom I shared this recipe over the years.

This all said to say it is GOOD STUFF and plenty of fun, so grab a kid and make a batch and

have some FUN...
=================================================================
PLAY DOUGH

4 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
2 cups of warm water
2 tablespoons of melted shortening
2 tablespoons of alum ( now don't let your kiddies eat this stuff, or the dough, though it is used in making pickles)

a few drops of food color
mix and knead until blended well. Store in a ziplock bag. If not kept in a sealed container it will dry out.

you can make hand print plaques, cut with cookie cutters for your own homemade Christmas ornaments, be sure to make a hole for hanging or insert a paper clip . Bake 150 degrees until done "dry" ( you can paint with acrylic paints, dry)
seal with two coats clear acrylic sealer.
