Your dogs healthy anti flea breakfast...secret ingredients

Yesterday Kate wanted some snow, it was HOT....
so did our "little" Annie and Roo-die our wonderdog
it was nowhere to be found......

I did find something this morning I didn't want to find....a flea.....YIKES......
I have an allergic reaction to flea and mosquito bites, and they LOVE me....
so I have a passion to not allow them (or mice and rats) on our little farm

We have an anti flea and anti rodent(uninvited..hamsters,and gerbils can visit) "welcome" mat.

so things are just "ducky" here on the farm...a sprinkle of pet and poultry dust while they are
"dreaming" ...I do that as fast as a duck on a June bug..so they don't wake up...
we also have canaries , I seldom need to debug them...

awww , my last post was the same as the last time I responded...that will never do...
ummm what has happened here on "da" farm lately? Lots, but...where to start?

Well, since I woke up with a crooked neck the other day and OWE--IED the whole day with a headache, I guess pain has happend lately...just for starters.

Have you ever done that? Woke up with a crooked neck ,I mean. I blame this last one on my hand plucked,home made goose down pillow...I had washed it and thus ,it was still a bit damp
so I used a substitute...OH NO>>>owie....

I started thinking about pain,healing. Before you know it I was looking up something new
called LLEL therapy . My ruminating mind wanted to compare "it" to
something I have personally experienced : low level laser light therapy..at
Dr. Garreth MacDonald- Chiropractic Physician- Cascade Health Center
as well as the delightful ...ahhh....pull your head off technique Dr. Garth uses.
This sound dreadful but feels great, for me anyways.

My interest in light therapy was piqued while watching a Pat Parelli show on the RFD tv channel .
I was extremely impressed with his guest that day.
Dr. McClaren was demonstrating what phototonic light therapy does for horses.
Have you ever seen a horse FAKE it? Me neither. S-O-O-O ...
I plan to purchase Dr. McClarens laser "the works" kit.
I have even been "tucking " (in the bank)away some money towards doing such...(my personal "lay-a-way" plan..
This is a great idea unless you have to borrow from it, that is.
Then again if you "have to" that is good too .

Remember farm funnies "ruminates"...
Ruminating for cud chewers takes a little time, peaceful reflection and I am sure the process involves some twisting and turning...
Thus early this a.m. I have the twisting and turning going on in my mind,as I make my computer scramble from one thing to another,
while I ....TADA ....google my electrified thought process...
(attention family: no caffeine YET..just pomegranate and raspberry green tea).
I WILL make sure I sit in the sun and do peaceful reflection LATER..

It's a dog's life

I am "really" doing some "homework" for my EBE with Alicia and Lisa, and well, you

know how it goes for us dog lovers....

we get started on a rabbit trail and viola' an hour is gone before you know it....

DISCIPLINE....yes Alicia I am "trying" and my husband would agree with you saying

either I am very TRYING , or one of the most TRYING woman he has ever met....

Training,showing,breeding,raising,nurturing,rescuing.."cleaning after" but I won't even begin any of that today.

a rose is a ? Grandpa's "gaskets"...better known as pancakes

A L-O-N-G L-O-N-G time ago

in the "far a way LAND" of my forefathers
we ate something that is commonly known in this day and age
as PANCAKES,
never heard of them?

well they are at such places as I-hop or Pig 'n pancake
unless you grew up in a home with a real live, active kitchen
such as we have here at farm funnies...(well when everyone is home anyways)

BUT they were not called pancakes....my family ate

huh?? well... even though I am not a car "buff" I do know what a gasket is
and even I must admit there is a resemblance,

(unless they are covered with my favorite :peanut butter and honey...
or jam and cream or real maple syrup and real butter)

EVERYONE (4 footed) wanted to help....
"Dad" became discouraged with his loyal "following" and all their "help"..

The ROD:
We live in a time when there are so many things "politically" correct, we have become
bound up in foolishness....
One such foolishness is CORRECTION....(modern methods)

Just last night as we celebrated the 4th, one of our grown children thanked me for the application of the...SWITCH,when younger....and said it is too bad so many parents do not use it now....

Just before I turn out the light , before going to bed,I read a little in my Bible.
Last night, where did the page happen to open?
Thus I read, spare the rod, spoil the child.
One verse actually said beat foolishness out of the child.(of course, the word beat is not the way we interpert it nowadays)
At farm funnies I "ruminate" on concepts, remember...
So as I drifted off to sleep,I ruminated on beatings,rods and how all of our kids once grown have ,at one time or another,thanked me for the correct use of the "rod" .
That it caused them to become better...

I hated correcting our kids...BUT I knew it was necessary...
One of our most effective corrections, was when one of our kids,as a terrible two year old would throw fits.
The fits were awful, the kid actually hurt their self more than my switch application did.
Thankfully the "fit throwing" was in during days before the "child abuse industry, and political correctness ...no correction? (what a sad play on words)

For the fit throwing, farm funnies hubby told me the way to stop the behaviour was to get a fine supple switch.
( I thought him "mad" at the time)and to calmly HELP our child throw the BEST fit ever.
What I was doing wasn't working, he was gone working and going to school.
The next fit ,deperate, I cried inside as I calmly said mommy loves you so much and you want to throw such a terrible fit, I will HELP you throw a great one, and proceeded to "help"(oh that's not a loud enough scream,or you aren't kicking the ground hard enough, here I'll help you do it "louder,harder" until the fit was really a "good one" and I could tell there was a change of attitude.
It only took about 2 such fits and viola' fits were no longer "fun" profitable or worth it.

I can understand why a great many fear to correct children nowadays....
Just reading Mary Pride's book called The Child Abuse INDUSTRY... can put the "fear" in ya..
That is no excuse for raising and promoting unhealthy children,and children (and critters)w/o discipline are unhealthy (even dangerous).
( a fiction book called Exit Betty by Grace Livingston Hill is a good book with good ideas for dealing with older children)

For that matter the spare the rod spoil the child principal applies to dogs and other critters.
Of course ,one must know and have a true heart for each "variety" .
Each one is different and thus responds differently, same as kids do.
But NONE, really want to be allowed the "freedom" to evolve, into their lowest nature...
That is why boundaries are "tested"
That is why kids and critters will push those boundaries.
I believe society pretty much does the same.
They feel and are secure, when you care enough to do what hurts you...
(true correction, if done correctly will hurt "you" most)

Here at farm funnies we have a NO CATS rule...
that means, no you cannot chase,harass or chow down on those cute furry kitties, e
Even when they fight amongst themselves or run from "ya"...Even if they are playing...
"we" respect the NO CATS rule, why?
Because "mom" applied a fine green switch, to our little fannies,
WHEN we thought such behaviour was cool as a little "tyke"
We KNOW she will again, if need be (trust us)
Granted, for the dogs and the same applies for kids, the focus isn't left on the correction...

Ya break the rule, mom applies the remedy, hollering NO CATS repeatedly...
but THEN mom gives ya something good to do afterwards...
Go get the ball ....OH WHAT A GOOD DOG... YAY!

A number of years ago I wrote a brief book review about Mary Prides book,
sending it to a number of our States legislators.
A group of us were appealing for them to make changes in some laws they were reviewing...
They chose not to be influenced...they will answer some day... while "we" pay now...

We pay because our country doesn't have a just "method" of accountability...
We spare the "rod" and in so doing we "feed" all that is detrimental...
Crimes are worse BECAUSE those who break them REALLY want justice,
deep inside we all know what is right and wrong...
Why make society "pay" while the "culprits" are "free to continue?"

If I , a dog owner, am required to PAY (fees) for my choice to own and care for a dog...
Why can't those who "choose" to perpetuate wrong, pay for their choices?

If you lie....(soap on the tongue works for a kid)
If you are disobedient, a fine switch is a healthy deterrent .
AND it causes no damage...
The real damage is caused by not using a switch...
It is caused by allowing wrong behaviours...(or misuse of correction)

As to our nation, we have allowed lots to go wrong..
Lets get back to the basics, lets apply the switch...
Let the lawbreakers pay the piper..
Sheriff Joe Apaio, in Arizona has the right idea...work for your supper...
Look at history... what happened in Jamestown? when "all" shared"..
No more "freebies" for those who do nothing, especially illegals...
and lets not spare the rod, lets make sure crime doesn't pay

It starts at home, apply to yourself, family, and realms of influence.
A stone will ripple "if" it is "tossed" in a pool of water...
get ready, get set....go....

America, where "ARE" you?

At times, I have been so heavy of heart for our country,

I have just stopped...

It is way past time for us to "wake" up...

What happened to the Watchmen on the wall ?

Where did the passion for Land ,Liberty and Pursuit of happiness disappear to?

When was the baton dropped?

Oh ...so many grievous, heartfelt questions...but they do not matter.

Action does!

At times I've allowed myself to push the questions out my mind.

Sometimes they seemed such heavy ones, to much for "me" (oh really?)...

In so doing, I unwittingly became action less...

thus sadly becoming "one" of my very "questions".

Pain and grief, can render the comfort and balm of healing,past the point of real

healing...

Burdens...who said the load would get lighter when you avoid "it" ? (or rest)

We do have a burden bearer, if we allow Him to help...

Here is the "load" ..(my load)

We have a lot of "dirt" in our Land of the FREE and land of the BRAVE

My own personal "dirt" has been allowing myself to be overwhelmed with the load ,

thus allowing myself to become action less...( "resting" from the pain)

My "knees" seemed too sore to remain on the "ground" for the sins of our nation,

Ahh... only a "little" rest...(you are "alone" the condemner,would whisper... what can "you" do ?...

no one else "cares", it is too much for "you", ,...yada, yada, yada... tuus becoming entrapped in my own little pity party for "us"...all LIES...)

Of course we are never alone...we "both" know a great BOOK where we are told so !

However, when one seems to be alone,sitting in the darkness

it can be easy to "listen" to the discouragements whispered in your ear.

If not careful ,one can soon become mired in the darkness of what appears helplessness...

That is not the time to give in, give up or even become discouraged...

It is time to pick up that armour,dust it off, polish it and put it proudly ON...

Even if you seem to just stand still ...

( HEY...the British guards look pretty cool just standing still, don't they?)

So if you have become discouraged with the "state" our country "appears" to be in..
